Transforming Sierra Leone’s Gateway: Freetown International Airport
The Government of Sierra Leone launched the Modernization and Expansion project for Lungi International Airport in May 2021. The construction of the new terminal and facilities was completed in two years at a cost exceeding $270 million USD. Renamed Freetown International Airport, the facility now boasts a modern terminal with expanded capacity to accommodate 1.2 million passengers annually, equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
